When all the blooms were gone and the trees had all their leaves she would be safe. Dodging a gang who wanted to send her back into slavery, she arrived in Eastern Kentucky at Doctor Fairchilds station of the Underground Railroad. By pretending to be a ghost she escaped from capture, found the tunnel in the Cemetery chapel and followed it to the Fairchild home. There she became acquainted with Doctor Fairchild, his wife Mirhijah and a young doctor, Hamlet Fitz-Bryson. Her escape north became hampered by illness, an assassin, death of a family on the Underground Railroad and attempted murder.
